Sergeant Major, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines
Sergeant Major Jacob P. Bublitz

Sergeant Major Bublitz was born in Watertown, Wisconsin, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2006. After completing recruit training at MCRD San Diego and Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, he earned the combat engineer MOS at Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune.

His first assignment was with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Okinawa, where he deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 08-02 and later with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Promoted to Sergeant in 2010, he deployed again in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 10-2. He later served with 2d Combat Engineer Battalion, including a deployment in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 12-2 with 3d Battalion, 9th Marines in 2012. He earned the Army Sapper Leader Tab in 2014 and was selected as the 2d Marine Division Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

Meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in 2015, he transferred to MCRD Parris Island and served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Instructor for the MCIWS Course. Promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in 2018, he reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, serving as Company Gunnery Sergeant, Operations Chief, and later Company First Sergeant. He was promoted to First Sergeant in 2022.

First Sergeant Bublitz served at Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, before returning to 8th Engineer Support Battalion in 2023 where he served as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader for Bravo, Engineer Support and Bulk Fuel Companies. He holds an Associate Degree in General Studies, a Bachelor Degree from American Military University in Human Resources, a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from American Military University, and is a graduate from the Naval War College Senior Enlisted Advisor Course. In May of 2026 First Sergeant Bublitz was promoted to Sergeant Major and reported to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines.

Sergeant Major Bublitz's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with a silver star in lieu of sixth award and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award.
