Sergeant Major Christopher M. Westbrook

Sergeant Major Westbrook was born in Sherman, TX and graduated from Callisburg High School in May 1999.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and completed recruit training at Third Recruit Training Battalion, MCRD San Diego, CA in May 2001 and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class.  He attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA. He attended Single Channel Radio Operators Course and went to the follow on Multi-Channel Operators Course in Twentynine Palms, CA. Upon graduation, he was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty of 0622, Multi-Channel Equipment Operator. 


In October 2001, Sergeant Major Westbrook reported to Communications Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in January 2002.  Sergeant Major Westbrook received orders to 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, CA, in November 2002.  In December 2002 he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.  In January 2003 Sergeant Major Westbrook was attached to Combat Service Support Battalion 10 in support of OIF.  After the initial push into Iraq, he volunteered to join the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit where he would deploy again in support of OIF 2 from May 2004 unit March 2005.  He was promoted to Sergeant in May 2004.


In May 2005 Sergeant Major Westbrook received orders back to 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, CA, where he served as the MUX Platoon Sergeant.  In October 2006, he reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA to attend Drill Instructor School.  Upon completion, he was assigned to Third Recruit Training Battalion.  During his tour at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor.  Sergeant Major Westbrook was promoted to Staff Sergeant in February 2007.


After completion of his tour at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Sergeant Major Westbrook was transferred to 3d Battalion 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune, NC.  During this time, he deployed to Afghanistan where he served as the Communications Chief of the Now Zad district.  After returning from deployment Sergeant Major Westbrook began workups with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed on the USS Kearsarge throughout the Mediterranean.  Sergeant Major Westbrook was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in October 2012.

In May 2014, Sergeant Major Westbrook was assigned to 3d Battalion, 25th Marines where he served as the Communications Chief, Inspector and Instructor Staff for the Battalion. In December 2015, Sergeant Major Westbrook was selected for promotion and was promoted to First Sergeant in April 2016.  He then transferred to Detachment 1, Maintenance Company, CLB-451 in Omaha Nebraska where he served as the Inspector and Instructor First Sergeant.


In May 2019, Sergeant Major Westbrook received orders and transferred to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as the Force Company First Sergeant.  In July 2021, Sergeant Major Westbrook assumed his current position as the Battalion Sergeant Major for 1st Battalion 2nd Marines.


His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star.  


He is married to the former Jamie Dyer of Callisburg, Texas and they have 3 daughters Joslyn, Sydnie, Carolina and a son Ryan.
