Commanding Officer, 1st Battalion, 2d Marines
Lt. Col. Thomas E. Driscoll

Lieutenant Colonel Driscoll is a native of Lodi, California. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

As a company grade officer, his operational assignments include Rifle Platoon Commander, Combined Anti-armor Team (CAAT) Platoon Commander, and Rifle Company Commander, 3d Battalion, 4th Marines (OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM); Rifle Company Commander, Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

As a field grade officer, his operational assignments include Operations Officer, Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU); Regimental Assistant Operations Officers, 1st Marine Regiment; G-5 Plans Officer and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G-5, II Marine Expeditionary Force. 

His supporting establishment assignments include instructor and Staff Platoon Commander (SPC), The Basic School (TBS); Instructor, Class Advisor, and Deputy Director, Infantry Officers' Course (IOC); Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Sacramento, California.

Lieutenant Colonel Driscoll's civilian and military education includes: USMC Infantry Officers' Course, Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS), Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (CSCDEP), and a Masters in Operational Studies from Marine Corps School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW).  He is currently completing a Masters in Strategic Studies through the U.S. Army War College Distance Education Program (AWCDEP).

Lieutenant Colonel Driscoll's personal awards and decorations include:  Meritorious Service Metal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Metal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon.

He is married to the former Jennifer Heinz of from Stockton, California and has three children: Emma (currently a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy), Andrew, and Liam.
