Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines
Lieutenant Colonel Robert K. Livengood

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lieutenant Colonel Livengood enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in August 2003. While attending Elon University, he served five years in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Warehousemen with Supply Company (-), 4th FSSG in Raleigh, North Carolina. Upon graduation from Elon University, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and attended The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course. 

Lieutenant Colonel Livengood’s operational assignments include serving as a Weapons Platoon Commander and later Company Executive Officer in 2nd Battalion, 5th Regiment at Camp Pendleton, CA where he deployed in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM; and as the Weapons Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer in 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, NC where he deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program 18.1 and 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.  

Lieutenant Colonel Livengood’s institutional assignments include serving as the Commanding Officer of School of Infantry (West) Detachment Hawaii, as the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory’s Plans and Assessment Branch Head, and as Aide de Camp to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  

Lieutenant Colonel Livengood is currently the Battalion Commander for 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment.
